School Choice is Now Open For 2/1-2/29
Any resident student of the Cobb County School District may apply for a School Choice transfer. Selected students may complete the highest grade of that particular school before having to re-apply if the student maintains acceptable attendance, behavior, and academic performance, and are responsible for transportation to and from school. Parents/guardians will be notified via telephone and/or e-mail prior to Spring Break. Charter schools and new schools are exempt. Current fifth and eighth grade choice students applying to continue in the choice school feeder pattern will be given first priority in the lottery process; then siblings of current choice students; then new sibling groups; then a lottery process to fill remaining seats. Students not chosen will be placed on a waiting list based on the outcome. Click HERE

Opportunity School Districts (OSD)
In November, the following proposed state constitutional amendment will appear before voters: "Shall the Constitution of Georgia be amended to allow the state to intervene in chronically failing public schools in order to improve student performance?"
Georgia PTA's Stance on OSD:
- Parents will lose their say in local school and access to their locally-elected school boards. The OSD superintendent is accountable only to the sitting Governor.
- This plan does not address WHY schools are failing or how to improve the schools
- The OSD will take any school that has "failed" without definition of "failure."
- OSD gives the state control over the local tax dollar and local school facilities.
- You can learn more by watching this video.

Why Average Typing Speed is Important?
Touch typing is "must have" skill in our digital world. With touch typing, it is important to start young. Studies have shown that for people ages 18 and younger, it is two times easier to learn to touch type properly. Touch typing may be the most important skill you can give them. Click HERE
